JOHNSTOWN, Pa (WJAC) — James Blachly, the musical director for the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra, has won the Grammy Award he was nominated for last fall.
The nomination was for his recording of Dame Ethel Smyth's "The Prison," an hour-long piece of music from the 1930s.
The recording was never performed in the United States until the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra recorded it in 2018.
Blachly's recording was nominated under the "Best Solo Vocal Performance: Classical" category.
The 2021 Grammy Awards will air Sunday night at 8 p.m. on CBS
